A Brite Lounge whitening session sells for $200 to $250. That is our price, in Saskatoon as anywhere in Canada.
The sum, in three lines.
One client uses one Advanced Kit. The kit is $37.45.
At $200 a session, that hour leaves you $162.55.
The light is $1,999.00. $1,999 divided by $162.55 is thirteen clients.
Thirteen. Not counting tax or freight, and not counting the foam and the pen you sell on the way out. The light has a lifetime warranty, so there is never a second one to buy.
104 sessions. One on a Saturday morning and one on a slow Tuesday.
208 sessions. Less than one a day on the days you are already open.
260 sessions. One hour of a chair you already pay rent on.
$200 a session less the $37.45 kit is $162.55. Multiply by the sessions. Tax, freight and the light are not in these figures, and the light is paid off inside the first thirteen clients.
She buys the After Care Foam for $16.05 and sells it for $30. The After Care Pen costs $18.20 and sells for $35. Hand her both at the till and that is another $30.75 from the same hour, and she comes back sooner because the result lasts.
The City of Saskatoon publishes every business licence it holds. At the end of 2025 it had 1,459 licences in personal services. 755 had a shop and 704 were run from home.
That group is wider than beauty. It also holds massage, tattoo and dry cleaning. But 581 of those names say salon, spa, esthetic, beauty, nail, lash, brow, hair, barber or wax.
Statistics Canada counts 220 personal care businesses with staff in the Saskatoon area. Everybody here knows where everybody gets their hair done. The first room doing this properly, with a certificate on the wall, is the one they talk about.
Of those 581, 337 have a shop and 244 work from home. Statistics Canada puts 204 personal care businesses with staff inside the city itself, which means most of Saskatoon’s beauty trade is one person and no payroll.
By size, the Saskatoon area breaks down like this: 89 rooms with one to four people, 82 with five to nine, 36 with ten to nineteen, and 13 with twenty or more. Even in Saskatoon, the small room is the biggest single group. Across every trade, the Saskatoon area has 11,602 businesses with staff, so about one in 53 is a hair, nail, skin or barber business.
